Are you lacking space to create your ideal office space? That is not a problem. The crammed counselor series will help you figure out how to deal with the lack of space.
Step #1
Use your Vertical Space
If you have any room to hang shelving, I recommend that you do so. This shelving was recycled from another school. I scooped it up and had 6 units hung for vertical storage.
Step #2
Use furniture for multiple purposes
The pink filing cabinet holds all of my important documents. In addition, it separates my one on one counseling space. My fidget sand is also on top of the file cabinet.
Step #3
Keep your core counseling curriculum organized within your upper shelving
My core curriculum is organized within 8 pocket folders. I utilize number dots to order the folders. Large magazine holders are utlized to keep my curriculum organized by grade level. Here is a list of the products to help organize:
8 pocket Folder
Magazine Bins
Number Dots
Step #4
Use a rug to have a separate small group space
This rug serves as a separation to my small group area. The black rug was purchased when it was on sale at Walmart. It is a neutral color and I'm able to pair different decor pretty easily with it. It is a plush material and students are pretty comfortable when sitting for group time.
Step #5
Use small furniture for a standing desk or a convertible desk
The corner desk is a great addition to a small office space. I like to be able to stand when I work at my computer. I find it is much better for my health. I like how small the furniture is and fits in most areas of my office. It is designed to go in any corner. When I rearrange my office I love that!
Hopefully this is helpful. A crammed counselor sure can be a productive one :)
